What You Never Had You Always Miss

Afraid to push our luck

We pass our days in “cosy” ruts

Daring not ask what might have been

Had we simply taken the opportunities we’d seen…

Yet spurned.

So now within our heart of hearts still burns

The pain

Of knowing chances lost may never come again.

Because we dared not take the risk,

What might have been, escaped our grasp.
