Perekop was the final battle of the Civil war on the Crimean peninsula.
“The result of the Perekop-Chongar operation was the breakthrough of the Red Army into the territory of the Crimea, the evacuation of the Russian army and part of the civilian population abroad, the establishment of Soviet power in the Crimea. The last major front of the Civil War was eliminated. I don’t know why the monument is dated 1920 – 1944 – perhaps for propaganda reasons the Soviets wanted to connect the Civil War to WWII. The battle itself began on November 7, 1920 and ended on November 17, 1920. The Red army, under the command of M.V. Frunze had overwhelming numerical superiority.

Я не знаю, почему памятник датирован 1920-1944 годами - возможно, из пропагандистских соображений Советы хотели связать Гражданскую войну с Второй мировой войной. Само сражение началось 7 ноября 1920 года и закончилось 17 ноября 1920 года. Красная армия под командованием М.В. Фрунзе имел подавляющее численное превосходство.
